Merlz’s introduction to DJing in VR happened by chance, when he was inspired by another VRchat DJ named [[GeeKaz]] to dust off his old dj controller from the basement and try it out in VR. On a Saturday, July 2nd 2022, he set up his equipment and opened up a public instance of [[Club Orion]] where he played a mix of Hardstyle- and Hardcore-music for anyone who joined. To his surprise, his lobby attracted a lot of attention and soon reached a peak attendence of approximately 50 people. Merlz ended up playing a 5-hour-liveset, telling all of his friends about his thrilling experience, the positive feedback and the fun he had. He then decided to turn DJing in VR into a regular hobby. |
